Before shot of the kitchen. If you've been following the photo-blog, these are somewhat older pics of the kitchen. I did the tile before I did the paint, so the tile is done with the darker cabinets and many flaws not yet repaired. |

The sink area during construction. The sink was the trickiest part of the construction. The whole job was totally custom. I used about 40 19-inch tiles, but only four were left whole. But the sink area was really difficult. One primary problem I encountered is that the counter and the wall are not exactly square. The counter takes a quarter-inch jog just to the right of the sink, and the wall heads about a half-inch north starting in the middle of the sink. |

The finished project. Notice the under-cabinet lights. This was Kip's suggestion, and it was a really good one. Although the kitchen is not generally poorly lit, these are really nice for having adequate lighting when preparing food. They're also nice to leave on as a night light or when coming home in the dark. |

The stove area with new counter and backsplash. I like this shot. It looks warm and cozy. |
